Sorry seems to be not the hardest word for The Sunday Times. They’ve apologised for their apparent article that cast aspersions on the IJ Girls.
In case you’ve missed it (the thing’s damn small), here’s the full text, found on Page 2 of the main section.
What It Should Have Been
In a story headlined “Singapore A-Z… once more, with feeling” last Sunday in the Lifestyle section, we made disparaging remarks about “IJ girls” from the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus schools. We retract those remarks. No malice or disrespect was intended. We are sorry for the distress caused.”
Hmmm.
By the way, Richard, I think most of the people actually understand what she was trying to get across. Then again, go ask her to explain further if you don’t.
Oh, if you want to see proper O’Level sentence structures, why don’t you start with yourself first?
Just a thought.
PS: Roth asked me to comment on how much he has changed on his post, and I certainly have plenty to say. But we’ll leave this after the exams.
